With a fascinating family history within the art world, Tom obtained both a degree from Winchester School of Art and the Fine Arts Valuation degree from Southampton Solent University.
His breadth of experience in the valuation of paintings has been at Sotheby's, Phillips, Bonhams and Christies where he was a Director and Head of Department.
Now working as an Independent dealer and valuer and member of BADA.
Tom's valuation experience has included input within an Inheritance tax report undertaken by Drummond Read in which a taxable estate included a substantial 20th century bequeathed art collection based in Hampshire. The instructing solicitor, executors and residual beneficiaries wished to retain the collection and then correctly insure.
A Court case in Edinburgh involving a previously stolen painting required a legal report and a visit to Scotland to inspect. Tom assisted Drummond Read in providing a thorough report on its authenticity.
